About our client

Our client is a Global Fortune 500 international logistics company with a 45-year history and operates in 350 locations in 130 countries around the world. In Japan, they have a strong and stable reputation of 25 years continuous operation. 

They currently have a staff of about 170, with about 120 employees in the Tokyo Branch and about 50 in the Osaka Branch. They have a wide range of employees, from young people in their 20s to veterans in their 60s, and the average age is 41.8 years old. The ratio of men to women is almost half and half, with a good mix of female management and an open and flat environment. 

They currently have office locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Narita, and Kansai Airport, and are engaged in international air transport agency, international maritime transport agency, customs clearance, and other logistics businesses.

Job Location: Osaka and Nagoya    

General Description

We are looking for Junior and Senior District Sales Executives to develop new customer revenue for our district offices in Osaka and Nagoya. The role is focused on attracting and closing local accounts and ensuring continual business growth within the District. The role is based in either Osaka branch or the Nagoya sales office. We are open to hire sales people from other industries with no background in Logistics but the potential to be trained. 

Reporting Line 

This role reports to the District Sales Manager (DSM) for Osaka and Nagoya.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Manage an assigned territory and demonstrate extensive knowledge of potential customers and competitors in this area
  • Timely data entry in our Customer Relationship Management tool
  • Build relationships with Customer & collaborate with regional team, Geo, and Knowledge Management resources
  • Create value-added solutions for customers logistics needs, including Network Diagrams & Cost benefit solutions
  • Support the transition of new accounts
  • Support AR (accounts receivable) collection
  • Own Credit setup process with new customers onboard
  • Attend training & development sessions to continue developing selling skills and updating Service knowledge
  • Involvement in local trade groups, as directed by the DSM
  • Make 50 sales calls every month or as directed by DSM
  • Make required number of joint calls as directed by DSM
  • Meet required individual budgets
  • Have diversified sales pipeline across verticals & service
  • Take on additional assignments as required, supporting company needs

Skills Required

Business level Japanese language proficiency is mandatory, but you do not need to be a Japanese National, >10% of staff in the Japan company originated overseas.

  • (Junior Sales) No Logistics sales experience is needed (we will train you) but you must be able to demonstrate a high level of energy and show evidence of sales ability from a different industry. 
  • (Senior Sales) Well versed with the local trade market. 2- 5 years of sales experience in Logistics.
  • Oral and written proficiency in the English language.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong rapport and relationship-building focused.
  • Confident Presentation skills
