Job Overview

The incumbent will devise and execute a strategy for, as well as oversee the daily operation of the business development function for Japan, thus driving profitable growth of the business through building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to retain existing business, expand the volume of business with current clients and win new business with new clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the regular contact, conduct face-to-face meetings with existing clients and new prospect clients and also key maritime industry stakeholders
  • Develop a growth strategy for the relevant region in combination with the Group Business Development & Marketing Director and Divisional MDs
  • Act as a senior client account executive for existing clients based in the geography, and use this relationship to retain existing business and expand through additional volume and/or services and/or geographies
  • Develop targeted prospect list for new clients, and proactively follow through to bring new clients into Wallem
  • Responsible for the preparation of business proposals including projects involving participation through tender, Ship management, Crew management, Agency representation etc.
  • Promote the companys services addressing or predicting clients needs and recommend portfolio changes as required to align to client needs
  • Maintain strong and effective working relationships with other business functions
  • Assist to provide support to customers during initial phases of an engagement. Follow up and ensure total client satisfaction through the life cycle of the relationship
  • Work with the senior industry stakeholders comfortably

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Maritime Management, Naval Architecture or equivalent disciplines
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a ship management company OR Minimum of 8 years experience in a maritime related industry
  • Strong commercial leadership experience, including senior level client and stakeholder interaction
  • Experience in winning new business through value added sales, beating the competition and growing a business
  • Strong reputation and relevant connections in the maritime industry
  • Effective communicator with a good command of English
  • Be ready for and capable of frequent travel globally without restriction
