Our client is a one of Japan's top Global Freight Forwarders. They are well established in Japan with approximately 1,000 staff covering Sea, Air and Contract Logistics, together with specialised Project, Alcohol and Ship Spare Logistics teams.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will provide leadership and guidance to the Value Added Services (VAS) team within the large Sea Freight Logistics Division. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to arrange and approve value-added services that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of this dynamic role, you will oversee the following key tasks:
Transportation Organization: Coordinate and organize transportation services in line with customer commitments, ensuring the lowest possible cost while maintaining service quality.
Customer Coordination: Collaborate with customers to confirm specific pick-up and drop-off locations and timings, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
Regulatory Compliance: Facilitate and manage the preparation of necessary permits and documents for customs clearance, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
Value Added Services (VAS): Arrange additional value-added services such as fumigation, stuffing, certificates of origin, and others, to meet customer-specific needs.
Vendor Communication: Manage all communication with vendors, excluding carriers, ensuring timely and effective collaboration for service execution.
System Updates: Ensure accurate and timely updates to systems, including status updates and document uploads related to Kuehne + Nagel (KN) services.
Dangerous Goods Approvals: Oversee the approval process for Dangerous Goods shipments, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards.

Industry Expertise: Your in-depth understanding of the local market and regulations is critical to the success of this role. A strong network of internal and external relationships will enable you to navigate challenges effectively.
Operational Knowledge: You have been selected for this position due to your extensive operational experience and the key competencies you bring to the Value Added Services (VAS) domain.
Leadership and Collaboration: Your ability to lead a team, drive operational efficiency, and collaborate across departments will be essential in achieving operational excellence and delivering superior customer service.
