Business Development Representative
About the job Business Development Representative
The Business Development Representative is responsible for developing profitable transportation solutions for customers and must have a true passion for sales. This role involves managing current customer accounts while also identifying, establishing, and developing new accounts and customer solutions for local, regional, and long-distance transportation customers.
Essential Job Description
- Provide superior customer service in all interactions
- Establish and execute competitive sales goals
- Build trust and long-term relationships with prospective customers
- Generate new sales leads and follow up in a timely and efficient manner, including cold calls
- Develop strategies to improve customer experience and build brand loyalty
- Arrange business meetings and one-on-one conversations with prospective customers
- Identify services that appeal to new customers
- Manage company and customer expectations
- Negotiate transportation agreements
- Collaborate with the Director of Business Development and Senior Leadership to create and evaluate sales strategies and results
- Research market and industry trends
- Develop and leverage a referral program from existing customers and team members
- Identify and attend relevant networking events
- Utilize tools such as ZoomInfo, LinkedIn, etc.
- Familiarity with CRM software, lead tracking, and quantifiable follow-up
- Other duties as directed by the Director of Business Development and Senior Leadership

- Aptitude for learning company-specific software programs
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in sales, marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience required
- Working knowledge of the transportation bulk liquid industry preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
