Minimum Requirements
minimum of 8-15 years in Refinery, NGLF or Petrochemical industry specifically in asset integrity of stationary equipment, with at least 5-10 years field experience working in plants major turnarounds and field troubleshooting.
Must have a thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, solid industry codes and standards background (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO) and use of engineering software. ASME, API-510, API-570, and API-653 valid certification is preferable
DEGREE - Shall hold a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Work Experience
1. Provide support with all types of instrumentation including level, temperature, pressure, control valves, Emergency Isolation Valves, Motor Operated Valve, Relief Valves, flow measurement and control, liquid and gas metering instrumentation and control system for custody transfer, radar level gauges and tank gauging system, compressor and pumps field instrumentation, speed controllers, Vibration Monitoring Systems (VMS), Compressor Control Systems (CCS). Apply sound judgement in technical matters with good skills in engineering field material specifications, integrity inspection, plant design optimization and modifications and apply and interpret key industry codes and standards relevant to instrumentation and control. Perform technical evaluation for instrumentation quotations, attend technical bid evaluation meetings and answering queries of vendors and apply basic operating knowledge of DCS and PLC for the troubleshooting of instrumentation and control problems by utilizing trends, loop drawings and I/O cross reference. Provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations with regards to instrumentation, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Virtual Metering System (VMS), and auxiliary control systems. Lead and/or participate in investigation of incidents applying 5 Whys technique and/or Tap Root and produce investigation reports and coordinate investigation related activities with other disciplines. Prepare engineering design packages for Instrumentation and Control Systems modifications in accordance with company technical standards for modifications and projects for the improvement of plant reliability, availability and to cope up with instrumentation obsolescence. Support operation, maintenance and Turnaround and Inspection (T&I) department for the plant T&I instrumentation related activities. Support Conduct special studies and analyses in a specialized asset integrity field, such as necessary mechanical calculations for piping systems, pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, air cooled heat exchangers - fin fan coolers, process furnaces, boilers, branch reinforcement, hydrotest pressure requirements, rating and/or de-rating of equipment/piping systems, fitness for service to evaluate flaws or damage in static equipment, pipe stress analysis, flange calculations, and perform nozzle calculations.
2. Perform field troubleshooting in daily basis or as requested, participate in major T&Is and emergency plant shutdowns and provide support to maintenance support organizations like Machine Shop or Welding Shop by developing repair procedures or just simply follow up on-going repairs.
3. Provide proposals for repairs or avail any idea that can come up from the execution team from the technical stand point and provide engineering support to repair hydrocarbon leaks, review and approve the bolted clamp calculations and design made by the specialized leak sealing contractors companies to maintenance prior to field installation and review detailed drawings and material specification from drafting groups for piping modifications as requested by operation/maintenance teams.
4. Perform piping mechanical calculations like minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure, branch reinforcement calculations, MAWP calculations as per ASME B31.3, hydrotest pressure, rating and de-rating of piping circuits by following API 570, fitness for service to evaluate flaws or damage and determine if the piece of pipe is suitable for continuous operation by using API 579.
5. Perform pressure vessel calculations like minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure, nozzle reinforcement calculations, MAWP calculations, stability and buckling calculations for vessels to be PWHT, rating and de-rating of pressure vessels by following API 510, NBIC-23, ASME Code VIII Div 1.
6. Perform shell and tube heat exchangers calculations as per TEMA standard, calculate tube sheet minimum thickness, calculate minimum tube wall thickness, perform flow induced vibration calculations and perform air coolers calculations and asses mechanical design as per API 661, perform mechanical assessment and ligament efficiency calculations for tube sheet and plug sheet hole size enlargement as per ASME VII Div 1.
7. Perform Fire Heaters calculations like minimum wall thickness (Elastic and Rupture Creep) as per API 530. Perform tube remaining life calculations and overall mechanical assessment of radiant/convection section tube supports, perform mechanical calculations of fire heaters stack (Minimum wall thickness and Vibration and analysis).
8. Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in piping design and conduction in accordance to applicable Codes and standards. Sharee mechanical and technical Engineering knowledge, experience, and train young engineers. Contribute in the repair, alteration and re-rating of in-service pressure vessels. Participate in Fitness For Service (FFS)Assessment as per API579. Evaluate repair and alterations in accordance with API-510.
9. Participate in preparing material list for piping systems, sch as: pipe, pipefittings, flanges, gaskets/bolting, spectacle blinds/blanks, cording to applicable Code and Saudi Aramco Standers. Interpret different Piping Classes and Flange Ratings as per company standards and ASME B165, etc.
10. Prepare and approve design packages. Review contractor's propose in terms of wall thickness calculations, branch reinforcement calculation/design. Analyze piping loads and stresses from CAESAR II input/output reports. Troubleshoot/ Recommended solve piping systems problems. Calculate retirement thickness, structural minimum thickness and provide measures to mention piping reliability.
11. Participate in facilities audits, insurance, HAZOP Studies, Compliance Review, and other internal or external assessments and support Capital and expense project review for drawings, calculations, scope of work, material specifications, vendor quotations and detailed purchase order requirements. unit and project management team in feasibility studies, prepare design scopes, reviewing project packages, support for the execution and commissioning the projects, participate in project completion walkthroughs.
