Your Role
As Team Lead Automation, you will be responsible for the engineering activities within the automation discipline for Damen Navals shipbuilding projects. From the initial proposal phase, you will establish a clear work breakdown structure and plan for the teams activities. During project execution, you will lead a team of (Senior) Automation Engineers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions on time. You will ensure technical excellence, manage schedules, and report directly to the Project Manager Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small to mid-sized team of Electrical & Automation Engineers.
- Coach and guide team members to maintain internal standards and best practices.
- Develop work breakdown structures and allocate budgets effectively.
- Ensure timely and high-quality engineering deliverables to the Project Manager Engineering.
- Manage vendors and subcontractors to secure timely project contributions.
- Organize and conduct design checks and reviews to uphold quality assurance.
- Verify the technical performance of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing department to conduct technical evaluations of offers.
- Monitor and control the man-hour budget, ensuring accurate progress reporting.
- Coordinate technical support and commissioning activities as required.
- Ensure compliance with class standards and customer specifications.
What Were Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years experience in designing complex electrical and automation systems within shipbuilding, offshore, or maritime industries.
- Proven experience working in large, complex project environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams of up to 10 people.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, or a related field.
- Project management expertise, with the ability to complete work packages within set deadlines.
- Familiarity with class-regulated products and Good Engineering Practices.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal; proficiency in German is an advantage.
- Strong professional references and the ability to pass pre-employment security screening.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are mandatory, due to the military nature of the projects. Please note: candidates holding only an EU work visa, dual EU/non-EU nationality, or non-EU citizenship are not eligible.
