Your Role

As an Automation Engineer at Damen Naval, you will play a critical role in delivering fully operational automated systems for state-of-the-art naval vessels. You will design automation concepts for complex processes, covering a broad array of onboard systems, including strategic defensive solutions. Your automation designs will provide cutting-edge functionality, enabling crew members to efficiently monitor and control all ship systems. Working within a 3D Experience engineering environment and following the V-model methodology, you will ensure thorough design reviews, testing, and verification throughout every phase of the project. Your contribution will culminate in the successful launch of naval vessels, ready to protect and serve across the worlds oceans.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop functional descriptions and basic engineering documents for the ships automated processes. 
• Prepare and maintain specifications for automation components and installation processes.
• Create detailed test and validation plans to ensure compliance with Class regulations and customer requirements during both virtual (simulation) and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT).
• Manage vendors and subcontractors to secure timely project contributions.
• Review and integrate designs from vendors and subcontractors into the vessels overall design.
• Establish and document standards and working methods for detailed engineering and commissioning.
• Provide technical support during proposal stages by developing conceptual automation designs.
• Support technical and commissioning activities for ongoing projects.

What Were Looking For

• A minimum of 2 years of experience designing and installing complex automation systems (PLC/SCADA), preferably within maritime, offshore, or aeronautical sectors. 
• Professional background in complex, multidisciplinary projects involving multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
• Experience in model-based system engineering (MBSE) environments, working according to the V-model methodology.
• A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Excellent professional references, as part of the security screening process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are mandatory due to the military nature of the projects. Candidates holding an EU work visa or dual (EU and non-EU) nationality are not eligible.
