The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the 559th Software Engineering Squadron (559SWES) Director and provide supervisory and managerial authorities of 559SWES. Directs work activities through subordinate supervisors/leads with responsibility for providing advice, accountability, and expertise to higher management and/or senior leadership on a continuous basis. Exercises control over the organizational element by providing direction, planning, and leadership for assigned subordinate personnel. Directs, manages and oversees operation of the 559th Software Engineering Squadron providing Operational Flight Program (OFP) software and real-time engineering expertise to include acquisition, full spectrum hardware and software design, software and tools development, fabrication, installation and life cycle sustainment of Air Force weapon systems. Oversees pre-production, software engineering processes and overall programmatic and technical requirements management of software life cycles from initial requirements definition through delivery. Responsible for all aspects of software work processes including production, planning, risk management, human capital, execution, scheduling and the maintenance portion of materiel management. Responsible for squadron execution related to safety, quality, schedule and financial performance. Qualifications: - U.S. Citizenship - Obtain & maintain Top Secret Security clearance - This is a designated Drug Testing Position - Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable) Recruitment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of professional electronics engineering, and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to effectively apply advanced engineering principles and concepts to new applications, experimental theories, and other areas of responsibility. 2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. 5. Ability to utilize Art of the Possible concepts and initiatives analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6. An engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution in Electronics Engineering or a closely related field is required. 7. This position may be designated as an acquisition position covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
