What you'll do
You will craft, test, certify, and build high assurance encryption products aligned with NSA TEMPEST requirements. Use your TEMPEST design expertise for new HAIPE, EDE, Space, and Tactical high assurance encryptors, as well as execute production TEMPEST sampling program and address any test failures to root cause.
The day-to-day
- Collaborating with analog and digital hardware design engineers and mechanical engineers to create TEMPEST-compliant products
- Recommending circuits, participating in design reviews, and conducting tests on new TEMPEST solutions
- Review Schematic/CAD designs for accuracy
- Crafting TEMPEST test plans, procedures, and reports
- Participate in the initial Certification and Submittal phase of Viasat's TEMPEST facility and oversee certification under the TEMPEST Manufacturing and Test Services Program
- Perform testing in accordance with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02
- Collaborate with test technicians to conduct experimental (engineering) and formal (for score) TEMPEST tests
- Complete Viasat's production sampling TEMPEST program
- Liaise with NSA to achieve successful TEMPEST test results and product certification
- Support the EMI/EMC qualification of Viasat products
What you'll need
- 5+ years' hardware design for TEMPEST secure products.
- 3+ years' TEMPEST experience.
- Extensive experience with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92 and CNSSAM TEMPEST/01-02 specifications
- Proven familiarity with TEMPEST test equipment such as, TEMPEST receivers, oscilloscopes, dynamic signal analyzers, signal generators, etc
- Foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
- Ability to detail and report on technical solutions/findings
- Familiarity with production related processes and common failure modes
- Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Physics or Physics
- NSA Certified TEMPEST Professional Level I (CTP-I)
- US Government position. US citizenship required
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible
- Ability to travel up to 30% of time if required
What will help you on the job
- Experience with MIL-STD-461/464 and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC standards
- Certification of a level or level II CTP (Certified Tempest Professional)
