We are seeking an Information Systems Security Officer to join our growing team.

This role resides in our Cyber Operations Department and reports to our Project Manager. This position is located in Aberdeen, MD with a 10% travel requirement.

As an ISSO, you will assist with all areas of information security, such as establishing local security policies and attaining accreditations. You will be responsible for installing, using and maintaining security management software as well as reports that will be produced. You will have excellent analytical, organizational, time-management and communication abilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Xacta experience to assess and manage compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Apply Risk Management Framework experience to identify, analyze, and mitigate security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities across networks, systems, and applications
  • Develop, test, and operate firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), enterprise anti-virus systems, and software deployment tools to enhance the organization's security posture
  • Test and debug programs and scripts, and provide instructions for use during network exploitation activities
  • Apply knowledge of current Information Assurance (IA) policy, tactics, techniques, and doctrine to ensure compliance and effectively report security incidents
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of security requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and standards
  • Evaluate existing and proposed architectures for security design flaws, and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance security

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience with Xacta and Risk Management Framework.
  • Sec+ Certification required
  • Demonstrated ability to identify security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate security controls
  • Proficiency in developing, testing, and operating firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools
  • Familiarity with IA policy, tactics, techniques, and reporting requirements
  • CASP, CISSP, or equivalent certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management abilities
  • Previous management experience is a plus

At SIXGEN, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our compensation philosophy, which takes into account various factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, skills, LCATs rates and position level, and market competitiveness. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation to include our growth incentive program, incentives and benefits. The final salary offer will be determined after a thorough review of the candidate's background and alignment with the role.
