As a Communications Systems and Networking Specialist with MTSI you will support the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Transformational Capabilities Office. This position will provide communications systems and networking technical expertise, project, and managerial leadership for various research efforts within the Command, Control, Communication, and Battle Management (C3BM) Portfolio. This position supports the development and execution of C3BM research and development activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. We seek technical individuals who will thrive at guiding small, cross-disciplinary teams to execute applied research efforts and advanced technology development research efforts at various stages, from ideation through completion.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to provide technical guidance, assess technical issues and to prepare briefings to U.S. Air Force management.
  • Analyze requirements that define the technical baseline and verification of the technical baseline.
  • Support management of risks, issues, interdependencies, identifying schedule disconnects and conflicts, developing action plans for resolution, and assisting the Government in executing selected solutions.
  • Work with Government and contractor personnel to close gaps in technical execution and flow of customer requirements down through the system and component levels.
  • Lead and support Government/Contractor Working Group meetings—by creating briefings, leading discussion, and writing minutes to resolve risks, requirement gaps, and action items.
  • Review proposed changes to the technical baseline for impacts to capabilities and to cross-stakeholder integration concerns.
  • Facilitate review of program documents by providing comments, compiling other reviewer comments, and working with contractor to adjudicate the comments.

Qualifications

Qualifications Desired:

  • Experience with computer networking.
  • Experience with ground and airborne systems, such as terminals and networks.
  • Experience with communication satellite/terminal performance, link budgets and interface

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Specialization in Communications Systems and Networking (desired).
  • Masters' degree (desired)
  • Specialization in Communications Systems and Networking (desired).

Clearance Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Work is primarily located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio / some remote work possible. You may be required to travel periodically.
  • Must be located within commuting distance of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to support in-person attendance needs.
