SAIC is seeking a System Safety Engineer to provide technical support to a government customer at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; Master’s Degree in Engineering desired. Min 5 years of professional experience.
Preferred 7+ years launch system safety experience.
Clearance
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret SCI clearance with a CI poly.
Target salary range $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
Covid Policy SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.

Description
SAIC is seeking a System Safety Engineer to provide technical support to a government customer at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
- Develop and maintain a program-by-program set of tailored range safety requirements.
- Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle (SV) program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) plans, procedures and safety documentation (MSPSP, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Reports, etc.) for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements.
- Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements.
- Support program status meetings and attend working groups, as required.
- Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to SV arrival and hazardous operations.
- Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all SV pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated.
- Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to SV program.
- Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to SV programs and associated processing activities.
- Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools.
- Level I and II Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program.
