Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.

GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. - Writing, reviewing and editing program communication content, such as office reports, web pages, talking points, bulletins, technical fact sheets, brochures, blog posts, articles, briefings, and presentation information.
- Maintaining web pages, MS Teams groups, or other office communication sites.
- Creating communication plans that identify goals, messages, target audiences and tactics.
- Leading or participating in the implementation of communication projects and initiatives, with experience in consulting with stakeholders, identifying requirements, establishing deadlines, monitoring progress, and assessing goal achievement.
- Writing content, designing layout, and publishing material for a variety of communications, such as internal or external web pages, reports, publications, audio-visual productions, briefings, and presentations.
- Developing and maintaining web pages, MS Teams groups, or other office communication sites.
- Developing and managing complex communication projects from initial concept and scope development, through reviews and approval, design and production, to completion.
- Conducting evaluations to assess information needs of target audiences and measure the success of communications plans and products.
- Advising leadership about communications risk management and advocating for approaches that minimize agency communication risks.
