Job Description:

This position is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of facility systems including large HVACs, overhead cranes, elevators, pneumatic systems, boiler, sewage, water and other facility infrastructure. Responsibilities include the design, fabrication, installation, testing and documentation of modifications for mechanical facility systems incorporating detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to assist technicians with how equipment or systems are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.

The mechanical engineer would be responsible for the following facility systems:

  • Large HVACs and supporting infrastructure required to operate a 100,000+ sq ft, ISO 7 spacecraft-processing cleanroom
  • Seven overhead cranes ranging in size from 5-Tons to 75-Tons
  • Two elevators
  • Pneumatic/Compressed Clean-Dry-Air System
  • Sewage and water systems
  • Boilers
  • Particle Counters & other sensors required for maintaining/operating a cleanroom to support spacecraft processing
  • Facility infrastructure including roofs and large doors (internal and external)


Essential Functions:

  • Problem reporting and root cause analysis for all mechanical facility systems
  • Participating in the engineering configuration control process to include development of Engineering Change Requests and the supporting documentation
  • Analysis of all mechanical facility systems with an eye for improvements in maintenance and operations
  • Prepare and deliver presentations as required
  • Oversee testing of critical facility systems
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of critical facility systems under simulated operating conditions, record result and provide data/quality records at project reviews
  • Review existing mechanical engineering criteria and procedures to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments to outdated material
  • Perform operations and maintenance engineering that encompasses the maintenance, repair, and operation of the critical facilities systems utilized during spacecraft processing
  • Apply system engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management and quality assurance testing to ensure compliance with integrated master schedule
  • When scheduled, respond to all off-shift facility anomalies and document discrepancies to determine root cause and provide action plans for corrective action
  • Supervise contractors and vendors performing work in the facility as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience with Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and Instrumentation Diagrams to perform design and maintenance tasks
  • Experience in the maintenance and improvements of facility systems including Large HVACs, overhead cranes, elevators, pneumatic systems, boiler, sewage, water and other facility infrastructure
  • Background and experience with the design, fabrication, installation, testing and documentation of modifications for mechanical facility systems


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Ability to work independently within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to present material to leadership and customers
  • Ability to multi-task and manage/accommodate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $73,500.00 - $136,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
