This vacancy falls under the Construction and Facilities Management Office within the South Dakota Department of the Military, Camp Rapid. The ESS Technician is responsible for ensuring the regulatory operation of South Dakota National Guard's AA&E Vault Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), this includes troubleshooting and completing repairs, as well as regulatory inspections throughout the state of South Dakota National Guard ESS enterprise. The ESS Technician is also responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and regulatory inspection of various equipment within the ESS network to include but not limited to: IDS panels, Access Control Systems (EPACS), CCTV Cameras (EIPC), Video Management System (EVMS), Intercom Systems. ESS Technician is also responsible for inventory of product and vehicle maintenance scheduling.

Licenses And Certifications
- Successful applicant MUST be able to obtain required National Guard Bureau certifications for ELK alarm panels, Bosch VMS certifications, and Gallagher ACS.
- Successful applicant must be able to obtain a Top Secret with favorable SCI security clearance through Department of Defense.
- Work Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (10 hour days); Alternate work schedules will be considered Monday through Friday. Work schedule may vary due to emergency situations or travel.
- Successful applicant will be required to carry and answer provided cellular device, and respond to situations throughout the state within 24 hour regulatory guidelines.
- Occasional travel throughout the state required, to include out of state travel for regulatory classes.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- local, state, and federal building codes;
- appropriate installation and repair techniques;
- electrical and mechanical engineering and design;
- the functions of various electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- respond to statewide repairs and travel requirements within a regulatory 24 hour timeframe;
- communicate information clearly and concisely;
- effectively train end users, in a classroom environment and on location, on operational standards of ESS equipment;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- operate computers and digital devices effectively;
- read and interpret blueprints, construction plans and wiring schematics;
- accurately estimate costs of repairs and material requirements;
- operate construction equipment and power tools;
- assess the needs for repairs or preventive maintenance of low voltage electronic systems;
- lift 50 pounds or more;
- work from ladders, scaffolding, or in confined areas;
- work outdoors.
