Key responsibilities

Flight Scheduling and Booking:

  • Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, and customers to schedule and book airfreight shipments, optimizing flight options based on cost, transit time, and cargo requirements.
  • Ensure timely reservation confirmations and manage any changes or cancellations efficiently.
  • Cargo Handling and Documentation:
  • Oversee the physical handling of air cargo at origin and destination airports, ensuring compliance with airline and airport regulations.
  • Prepare and manage accurate air waybills, customs declarations, packing lists, and other shipping documents, facilitating seamless cargo movement through customs and security checks.
  • Shipment Tracking and Monitoring:
  • Utilize advanced tracking systems to monitor the real-time status of airfreight shipments. Proactively communicate with airlines, ground handlers, and customers regarding any delays, disruptions, or exceptions.
  • Provide regular updates to customers, enabling them to plan and manage their supply chains effectively.

Customer Service and Relationship Building:

  • Act as the main point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and offering expert advice on airfreight solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers by understanding their unique needs and providing customized service.

Cost Management and Negotiation:

  • Analyze and negotiate freight rates, surcharges, and other airfreight-related costs with airlines and service providers.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality, contributing to the company's profitability.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  • Stay current with international airfreight regulations, customs laws, and security requirements. Ensure strict compliance throughout the shipping process, minimizing the risk of fines and delays.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and other regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance for air cargo.

Emergency Response and Problem Solving:

  • Develop and implement contingency plans for handling unexpected events such as flight cancellations, natural disasters, or cargo damage.
  • Swiftly resolve operational issues and challenges, ensuring minimal impact on customer shipments and overall supply chain integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degrees in logistics, supply chain management, aviation management, or a related field.
  • At least 2 - 3 years of experience in airfreight operations, with a proven track record of success in managing shipments and customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in airfreight management software and systems e.g., Cargo wise.
  • Strong understanding of airline operations, airport logistics, and airfreight network.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, capable of multitasking and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex operational and logistical issues.
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with a high level of attention to detail.

Salary range

USD 550 to 800 gross
