About the job Head Of NDT
We're seeking to hire a seasoned competent "Head of NDT" for a Regional Construction Consultancy Services operating throughout the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia in Jeddah or Riyadh.
The ideal candidate shall be responsible for leading a team of NDT professionals, establishing and implementing NDT procedures and standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols, coordinating NDT projects and managing the NDT budget.
Head of NDT Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of international governing standards/codes.
- Ensure Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection systems meet standard requirements.
- Ensure NDT inspections according to customer demands, adhering to high-quality and integrity standards.
- Maintain awareness of technologies relevant to the business and their impact.
- Develop technical capabilities consistent with market trends, aligning with the company's Business Plan.
- Support business development activities, including customer visits, bids, and demonstrations.

- Manage non-destructive testing operation (NDT level 3).

- Supervise workplace safety and health practices.
- Conduct training for NDT staff to keep their knowledge up-to-date, including on-the-job training programs.
- Organize exam schedules and other activities.
- Conduct exams for Level I and Level II Inspectors.
- Mentor and develop Trainee, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 technicians in line with business needs.
- Monitor staff surveillance for re-certification.
- Monitor annual vision requirements for certification.
- Prepare and conduct technical training sessions and seminars.
- Support NDT operations promptly to fulfill contractual obligations.
- Provide hands-on support to the operations teams as required, including during high-demand periods.
- Supervise Inspection operations.
- Write Inspection Procedures, NDT Procedures, WPS, and PQR.
- Provide technical expertise for the approval of inspection procedures in NDT methods.
- Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Interpret customer specifications and prepare instruction sheets for NDT Inspectors to carry out inspections in compliance with their specifications and referenced codes.
- Review RT films/reports.
- Conduct site visits for NDT supervision.
- Witness NDT activities at various stages of jobs.
- Review NDT procedures of vendors and approve them.
- Review subcontractors' Inspector CVs, certificates, and conduct interviews to assess their competency.
- Review NDT reports and sign off.
- Prepare and review technical reports with analyses and interpretations.
- Monitor/control welding consumables.
- Conduct risk assessments on various processes, equipment, and substances.
- Perform internal technical audits.
- Support/attend external accreditation and customer audits as necessary.
- Coordinate with clients to solve technical inquiries.
- Maintain the quality management system.
- Liaise with the EHS&Q function on all matters relating to quality.
- Provide input through the EHS&Q function on all Quality Systems affecting NDT.
Head of NDT Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Engineering with a minimum of five years of experience in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid ASNT Level III Certification in selected non-destructive-testing methods.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to make technical analyses and find appropriate solutions.
- Ability to write technical and inspection reports.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences
