We are looking for a Top Notch "Chief Financial Officer" for a leading regional group who can guide the financial systems that empower the organization. Thus, we are searching for an experienced CFO of high-performing professionals and keep our client's finances positioned for continued success to perform effective risk management and plan the organizations financial strategy.
The well-versed Chief Financial Officer shall direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.
The seasoned strategist not only will understand current accounting practices and trends, but also will have experience raising capital and adapting to change, whether its through growth or downsizing. As a member of senior management, the CFO shall be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.
CFO duties and responsibilities
- Set up and oversee the company's finance planning and IT system
- Perform risk management by analyzing the organizations liabilities and investments
- Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
- Control and evaluate the organizations fundraising plans and capital structure
- Ensure compliance with the law and with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
- Manage team of financial controllers, treasurers, financial analysts and vendor relationships
- Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses
- Review planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination, for process enhancement
- Work with the President and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
- Oversee HR operations by coordinating with external service providers (ex: payroll, benefits, recruitment) and internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company
- Work with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
- Oversee investment of funds and work with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion.
CFO skills and requirements:
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Business Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
- Proven experience as CFO, finance officer or relevant role
- In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve, honesty and personal integrity
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- An analytical mind, ability to strategize, decision-maker and problems solver
- Strong leadership, supervisory and organizational skills
- CPA is a strong advantage
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant) is preferred
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit
