About the job Commis Chef

Our client is seeking dedicated Commis Chefs to join their dynamic kitchen team at a sushi restaurant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidates will have a keen interest in Japanese cuisine and a desire to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the preparation of sushi and other Japanese dishes.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as required for menu items.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Learn and apply proper sushi techniques and presentation skills.
  • Support the kitchen team during busy service periods, ensuring timely and efficient food preparation.
  • Participate in daily kitchen operations, including inventory management and stock rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef/Junior Chef or in a similar kitchen role is preferred.
  • A passion for Japanese cuisine and willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
