About the job Business Unit Manager
We are looking for a highly motivated and seasoned Business Unit Manager to drive sales through business development and sales force management, ensuring that current customers are getting the right services, identifying new markets and customer leads, and pitching prospective customers.
Business Unit Manager Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare yearly budgets and quarterly forecasts with full P&L, and follow with HQ and direct manager on achieving approved targets.
- Suggest and implement business strategies to achieve financial targets agreed upon with upper management
- Innovate and introduce new business lines in coordination with global COO ensuring diversity in portfolio and business activities
- Develop sales plans to expand the units customer base and acquire bigger market share Onboard existing and new clients based on UAE market experience
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, vendors, other stakeholders to gain bargaining power
- Expand the unit to 5 salespersons during the 1st year
- Diversify the team profile based on verticals, lines of service, geographical coverage, and trade lanes
- Manage the team from hiring, training, and performance management, in accordance with local labor laws and internal HR guidance
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit, including sales, customer service, and freight management
- Create reports (financial and operational) that allow to track and measure team performance
- Support in creating SOPs per client in coordination with quality assurance department
- Follow closely on operations and customer service standards from lead generation to post-sale follows
- Act as main point of contact for high level pricing and contracts problem solving
Business Unit Manager Skills and Qualifications:
- BA in Logistics, Supply chain, Management, Business management, or a relevant field
- 12+ years of experience in operations or sales role within freight forwarding with previous management and supervisory roles
- Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities, Solid analytical, critical thinking, detail orientation, and communication skills
- Excellent command of English, any other language is a plus
