Operations Manager
About the job Operations Manager
Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Abidjan, Ivory Coast is currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
Plant Management
- Manage the allocated budget to ensure deadlines are being met within the set timeframes, plans and budget; report any deviation to the Group Operational Excellence Manager for decision-making.
- Plan, organize, and manage the daily operations of the Plant and take full responsibility for production output, product quality and on-time shipping. This is to:
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility
- Minimize unnecessary costs
- Maintain high quality standards
- Exceed customers expectations.
- Oversee the work of the Production Department in order to ensure projects are produced on time, within budget, with the highest quality and uncompromising safety.
- Oversee the work of the Maintenance Department in order to ensure that all Maintenance policies, procedures and initiatives are being implemented for optimal efficiency & effectiveness.
- Oversee the work of the Plan Administration Department in order to ensure that all support activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor operations, evaluate employee productivity and provide corrective actions as needed.
- Provide needed training and educational materials to plant employees as necessary.
- Review, on a continuous basis, daily tasks and make sure to amend and refine where applicable for the improvement of employees performance and ultimately, the overall
productivity of the Plant. - Ensure equipment used is up to standards by:
- Performing routine safety checks
- Organizing preventive and predictive maintenance on utility and production equipment
- Repairing/replacing plant equipment and requesting modifications on production machines as needed.
Policies, Procedures and Processes
- Ensure continuous and strict abidance by the set Quality, Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures, and processes.
- Develop and implement, within the plant, procedures and related processes that maximize safety, quality, and productivity.
- Manage safety programs that guarantee the protection of both employees and the public; thus, reducing any potential risk to a residual level.
- Detect, correct and/or report unsafe conditions to the Senior Management with recommendations as needed.
- Understand and follow established product quality procedures and guidelines to ensure customers are receiving quality and purity of products.
Reporting
- Collect and review relevant data to:
- Reduce inefficiencies and waste
- Perform required pertinent analysis
- Present findings along with recommendations to Senior Management for feedback and approval prior to implementation.
- Interact with professional bodies and government officials visiting the Plant and provide them with required documents on a timely basis.
Management and Supervision
- Perform managerial/supervisory responsibilities that include participating in the management of all HR issues related to the team such as: team performance, absence management, training needs identification and other requests.
Communications & Working Relationships
Internal:
- Continuous contact with the Group Operational Excellence Manager/Country. Manager for proper collaboration and reporting.
- Continuous contact with concerned stakeholders for collaboration and work-related purposes.
External:
- Regular contact with professional bodies and government officials for reporting purposes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the manufacturing field (any field except FMCG).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
- Excellent command of English, Arabic, and French.
- Strong leadership, change management, and decision-making skills.
- Extensive technical expertise in quality assurance and process optimization.
