Summary:

Amplitude Logistics, a dynamic and growing company specializing in efficient delivery solutions for Amazon, seeks a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead its operations and drive profitability. This role demands a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of Amazon's delivery operations, strong business acumen, exceptional soft skills, and a passion for building and motivating high-performing teams. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the business, from fleet management and routing optimization to driver and partner relationships, business development, and ensuring on-time deliveries, maximizing efficiency, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management & Optimization:
    • Oversee daily dispatch, routing, and scheduling for a fleet of 10 trucks (5 company-owned and 5 partner-operated), ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
    • Implement strategies for route optimization to minimize mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times, leveraging technology and driver expertise.
    • Proactively address potential delays or disruptions to ensure on-time delivery and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Implement cost-saving measures and identify opportunities to increase profitability across all operational areas.
  • Fleet Management:
    • Ensure proper maintenance and repair of company vehicles, addressing mechanical issues promptly and efficiently.
    • Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle lifespan.
    • Manage vehicle acquisition and disposal, ensuring the fleet meets operational needs and cost-efficiency goals.
  • Driver Management:
    • Recruit, onboard, and train new drivers, ensuring they understand company policies, safety procedures, and Amazon's delivery requirements.
    • Manage driver schedules, performance, and compliance with company policies.
    • Address driver concerns, provide support, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement strategies to motivate and retain high-performing drivers.
  • Partner Management:
    • Collaborate effectively with partner carriers to ensure seamless coordination and efficient operations.
    • Monitor partner performance, address any issues or concerns, and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
    • Negotiate rates and contracts with partner carriers to optimize costs and maintain mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for Amazon, building and maintaining a strong working relationship based on trust and open communication.
    • Ensure clear communication with Amazon regarding deliveries, schedules, and any potential issues.
    • Proactively address Amazon's concerns and ensure their satisfaction with Amplitude Logistics' services.
  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee the company's profit and loss (P&L) statement, analyzing financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue, reduce costs, and maximize profitability.
    • Manage budgets and expenses effectively.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Amplitude Logistics' client base and service offerings.
    • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to attract new clients and increase market share.
    • Build and maintain relationships with potential clients and industry partners.
    • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with new clients.
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that aligns with Amplitude Logistics' people-first culture.
    • Promote teamwork, open communication, and mutual respect among employees.
    • Provide leadership training and mentorship to develop employee skills and promote growth within the company.
    • Oversee hiring processes, ensuring the company attracts and retains top talent.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs leveraging Technology
    • Implement strategies to optimize resource utilization and streamline workflows.
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technologies to enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Hard Skills:
    • University studies in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a management role.
    • Extensive knowledge of Amazon Relay and its operational requirements.
    • Proven experience in fleet management and routing optimization.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Proficient in using logistics software and technology.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Experience managing profit and loss (P&L) statements.
