About the job Senior SAP BASIS Consultant
The Senior SAP BASIS Consultant is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of SAP systems across the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of SAP BASIS technologies, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration:
Install, upgrade, and patch SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, etc.)
Manage system landscapes (development, quality assurance, production)
Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning
Manage user authorizations and security profiles
Troubleshoot system issues and provide timely resolutions
Maintain system documentation and run books
- Technical Support:
Provide technical support to end-users and application teams
Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests
Perform root cause analysis of system problems
Coordinate with vendors and third-party support providers
- Project Implementation:
Participate in SAP implementation and upgrade projects
Perform system installations and configurations for new projects
Assist in the development and testing of system interfaces
Ensure smooth go-live transitions
Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python)
Explore and implement new technologies and best practices within SAP BASIS
Continuously improve system performance and availability
- Compliance & Security:
Ensure compliance with relevant security and audit regulations (e.g., SOX, GDPR)
Implement and maintain security measures to protect SAP systems from threats
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
5+ years of hands-on experience as an SAP BASIS Consultant
Strong understanding of SAP BASIS technologies (e.g., OS/DB, NetWeaver, HANA)
Experience with SAP ECC and S/4HANA systems
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team 1
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python)
Knowledge of ITIL framework and service management best practices
Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Basis) are a plus
