Acerca del puesto Mechanical Piping Designer
Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering and project management firm working mining, oil sands, oil & gas, and industrial facility projects across Canada. Role
As a Mechanical Piping Designer, you will lead or support the production of high-quality piping design deliverables across a diverse project portfolio. You will serve as a technical authority, ensuring designs meet ASME B31.3 standards while mentoring team members and driving CAD excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Design Production: Independently produce piping plans, isometrics, equipment layouts, piping support drawings, and material take-offs (MTOs).

Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical authority for complex drawing challenges and, at the senior level, review and approve discipline drawings before issue.

3D Modeling: Apply advanced skills in AutoCAD and 3D plant design tools such as PDMS, SP3D, or similar to solve complex design challenges.

Standards & Innovation: Contribute to or lead the development of CAD standards, templates, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in workflows.

Mentorship: Provide guidance and review the work of junior and intermediate designers to foster professional growth within the team.

Project Coordination: Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure integrated, practical designs.

Support & Estimation: Support proposal and estimating efforts by providing drawing samples and quantity data.
What Do You Need to Succeed?

Education: Diploma in CAD design, drafting, or a related technical program.

Experience: More than 5 years of experience.

Technical Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D plant design tools (PDMS, SP3D, or similar).

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of ASME B31.3 piping design codes.

Work Setup: Ability to work autonomously from Colombia as a full-time contractor, adapting to an international technical environment.
Please note: You must provide your own high-performance computer; the company will provide all necessary software licenses.
- Language: Advanced English level (B2+ or above) is mandatory for technical coordination and collaboration with the Canadian team.

Professional Designation: A.Sc.T. designation is highly preferred.
