Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education (SPED) Specialist to lead and oversee our SPED program. This position will work closely with teachers, mentors, administrators, parents, and students to ensure that the individual needs of each student with special needs are met within a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's SPED program, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and alignment with the school's mission and values.
- IEP Development and Implementation: Lead the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, including conducting assessments, developing IEP goals and objectives, coordinating services, and monitoring student progress.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, mentors, and administrators to provide guidance and support in differentiating instruction, adapting curriculum, and implementing accommodations and modifications for students with special needs.
- Professional Development: Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff on topics related to special education, including identification, assessment, intervention, and inclusion practices.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the administration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Current teaching certification in Special Education
- Current IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Demonstrated experience in SPED program leadership and IEP development and implementation
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Passion for working with children with special needs and a commitment to their academic and spiritual growth
