WebMethods Administrator – Foundations SOI Integration Services

Role Title: WebMethods Platform Administrator

Location: Australia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Client is seeking an experienced WebMethods Administrator to support the Foundations SOI Integration Services program. The role will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and operational support of the WebMethods integration platform across Development, SIT, UAT and Production environments.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing, configuring and maintaining integration platform environments, ensuring platform stability, security, availability and operational readiness. This role requires strong expertise in WebMethods administration, environment management, deployment automation, Linux administration and DevOps-enabled delivery practices.

The candidate will work closely with Architects, Developers, DevOps Engineers, Infrastructure Teams and Security Teams to support platform lifecycle management, environment promotion, release deployments and ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Support

  • Install, configure, administer and maintain WebMethods platform components across multiple environments.
  • Ensure operational stability, performance and availability of integration platforms.
  • Monitor platform health and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Support day-to-day administration, maintenance and operational activities.

WebMethods Platform Installation & Configuration

  • Install, configure and manage WebMethods platform components including:
    • Integration Server
    • Universal Messaging
    • Managed File Transfer (MFT)
    • API Gateway (where applicable)
    • Command Central
    • Supporting platform services
  • Establish and configure new WebMethods environments in accordance with architecture and infrastructure standards.
  • Perform platform upgrades, patching and version management activities.

Environment Management

  • Configure and maintain Development (DEV), System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Production (PROD) environments.
  • Support environment consistency and promotion activities across the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Manage platform configurations and environment-specific settings.
  • Ensure environments are operationally ready and available for project delivery.

Command Central Administration

  • Administer and manage WebMethods Command Central environments.
  • Develop and maintain automated provisioning and deployment configurations.
  • Support platform lifecycle management through Command Central.
  • Implement repeatable deployment and configuration management processes.

Deployment & Release Management

  • Support application deployments, platform releases and environment promotion activities.
  • Coordinate deployment schedules with development and project teams.
  • Implement and maintain automated deployment capabilities where possible.
  • Support release validation, rollback planning and production deployments.

Security & Access Management

  • Manage platform users, roles, permissions and security configurations.
  • Implement security controls in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Configure and maintain:
    • SSL certificates
    • Truststores and keystores
    • Secure communications
    • Authentication and authorisation mechanisms
  • Support platform compliance and audit requirements.

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and testing activities.
  • Ensure critical platform components can be restored effectively following incidents.
  • Maintain operational documentation and recovery runbooks.

DevOps & Automation

  • Support DevOps delivery practices across the integration platform landscape.
  • Automate platform provisioning, configuration and deployment activities.
  • Integrate WebMethods environments with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support infrastructure and platform automation initiatives.

Troubleshooting & Operational Support

  • Investigate and resolve platform, deployment and integration environment issues.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for production environments.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for platform incidents and service disruptions.
  • Work collaboratively with infrastructure, development and security teams to resolve complex technical issues.

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain platform administration guides, deployment documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Document environment configurations and platform standards.
  • Support operational readiness reviews and governance activities.
  • Ensure administration activities align with approved architecture and operational standards.

Required Skills & Experience

WebMethods Administration

Strong hands-on experience administering Software AG WebMethods components including:

  • Integration Server
  • Universal Messaging
  • Managed File Transfer (MFT)
  • API Gateway
  • Command Central
  • WebMethods Platform Monitoring tools

Platform Deployment & Configuration

  • Experience establishing and configuring enterprise integration environments.
  • Experience with automated platform provisioning and configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of environment setup, configuration and lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale middleware platforms.

WebMethods Command Central

  • Extensive experience using WebMethods Command Central.
  • Experience managing deployments through Command Central.
  • Experience automating platform setup and configuration.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and platform automation approaches.

DevOps & CI/CD

Experience with:

  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Automated deployment frameworks
  • Source control systems (Git)
  • Release management processes
  • Infrastructure-as-Code concepts

Exposure to tools such as:

  • Azure DevOps
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub Actions
  • GitLab CI/CD

Linux Administration

  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience managing Linux-based middleware environments.
  • Shell scripting and automation experience.
  • Understanding of operating system monitoring and troubleshooting.

Security & Certificates

Strong understanding of:

  • SSL/TLS
  • X.509 Certificates
  • Keystores and Truststores
  • Secure communication protocols
  • Authentication and authorization mechanisms
  • Network and platform security best practices

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Experience troubleshooting production platform issues.
  • Root-cause analysis and incident management experience.
  • Performance tuning and platform optimisation capabilities.
  • Ability to diagnose deployment, connectivity and environment issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale integration and digital transformation programs.
  • Experience with API Gateway, messaging, MFT and enterprise integration platforms.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Energy, Utilities, Government or Critical Infrastructure.
  • Exposure to high-trust and low-trust network environments.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure, networking and cloud-hosted middleware platforms.
