Head of Technology — Insurance & Investments

Job Summary

The Head of Technology leads the organization's technology function, ensuring that IT platforms, infrastructure, applications, architecture, cybersecurity, data, and digital capabilities support business and operational objectives.

In an Insurance & Investments environment, the role typically oversees technology supporting insurance policy administration, claims, underwriting, investment/portfolio management, finance, CRM, customer channels, regulatory reporting, and enterprise operations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the organization's technology strategy and roadmap.

Lead technology modernization, digital transformation, and automation initiatives.

Oversee enterprise architecture, applications, infrastructure, cloud, networks, and IT operations.

Manage technology platforms supporting insurance, investments, finance, risk, and customer operations.

Lead cybersecurity, information security, technology risk, and IT controls.

Establish technology governance, standards, policies, and operating models.

Drive data, analytics, AI, and business intelligence capabilities.

Oversee ERP, CRM, core insurance, investment-management, and other enterprise systems.

Lead major technology implementations, migrations, integrations, and upgrades.

Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology resilience.

Manage technology vendors, outsourcing partners, contracts, and budgets.

Ensure compliance with applicable financial-services, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.

Partner with senior business leaders to translate business requirements into technology solutions.

Manage and develop technology teams across multiple functions and locations.

Provide technology updates, risks, investment requirements, and transformation progress to executive leadership.

Ideal Candidate Profile

12–18+ years of progressive technology/IT experience.

5+ years in Head of Technology, Technology Director, IT Director, CTO, CIO, or equivalent leadership roles.

Experience in insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, wealth management, or broader financial services preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline; advanced qualifications are advantageous.
