Job Summary

The Head of Investments is responsible for developing and executing the organization's investment strategy, managing investment portfolios, overseeing asset allocation, and ensuring that investment activities achieve the organization's return, risk, and liquidity objectives.

In an insurance and investments environment, the role should also have strong exposure to asset-liability management (ALM), regulatory investment requirements, portfolio risk, and institutional investment management.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement the organization's investment strategy and investment policy.

Lead strategic and tactical asset allocation across equities, fixed income, alternatives, private markets, real estate, and other asset classes.

Oversee portfolio construction, investment selection, diversification, and rebalancing.

Lead investment research and market analysis.

Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks and investment objectives.

Oversee investment risk, liquidity, concentration, credit, market, and counterparty risks.

Manage relationships with external fund managers, investment advisors, brokers, custodians, banks, and other investment partners.

Lead due diligence, selection, appointment, and ongoing monitoring of external asset managers.

Ensure investment portfolios comply with approved mandates, regulations, and internal policies.

Work closely with Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Treasury, and ALM teams.

For insurance organizations, ensure investments appropriately support insurance liabilities, solvency, and liquidity requirements.

Prepare investment reports and recommendations for senior management and the Investment Committee / Board.

Support strategic investments, private-market transactions, M&A, and other investment opportunities.

Develop and lead the investment team.

Maintain strong investment governance and documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

12–15+ years of investment or asset-management experience.

Strong background in institutional investment management, portfolio management, asset allocation, or investment research.

Experience in insurance investments, asset management, pension funds, banking, wealth management, or institutional investment.

Demonstrated experience managing or overseeing substantial investment portfolios.

Portfolio Risk

Asset Allocation

Strong understanding of ALM and insurance investment regulations is highly desirable.

Experience presenting investment strategies and portfolio performance to senior executives, Investment Committees, and Boards.

CFA, CA, ACCA, MBA Finance, or equivalent preferred.
