Position Overview
The Chief Corporate Development Officer is responsible for driving the organization's inorganic growth strategy, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic investments, partnerships, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring initiatives. The CCDO plays a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and executing high-impact growth opportunities that align with the company's long-term strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Strategy
- Lead the development and execution of the organization's M&A strategy.
- Identify acquisition targets, strategic investments, and divestiture opportunities.
- Conduct valuation analysis, financial modeling, and deal structuring.
Deal Execution & Integration
- Oversee end-to-end deal execution including due diligence, negotiations, and closing.
- Lead post-merger integration planning and execution to ensure value realization.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams during integration processes.
Strategic Partnerships & Joint Ventures
- Develop and manage strategic alliances, partnerships, and joint ventures.
- Structure commercial agreements that align with business growth objectives.
- Strengthen ecosystem relationships to expand market reach.
Corporate Strategy Alignment
- Align corporate development initiatives with overall business strategy.
- Collaborate with CEO and CSO on long-term growth planning.
- Evaluate strategic fit of potential transactions and investments.
Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Lead financial modeling, valuation analysis, and investment assessments.
- Evaluate ROI, synergies, and risk factors for potential deals.
- Ensure financial discipline in all corporate development activities.
Market Intelligence & Opportunity Sourcing
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and market opportunities.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of acquisition and partnership targets.
- Engage with investment banks, advisors, and industry networks.
Risk Management & Governance
- Assess legal, financial, operational, and regulatory risks in transactions.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and compliance teams during deal processes.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with senior leadership, Board members, investors, and external partners.
- Present deal recommendations and strategic insights to executive leadership.
- Represent the organization in negotiations and strategic discussions.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor corporate development, M&A, and strategy teams.
- Build strong analytical and execution capabilities within the team.
- Foster a high-performance, deal-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.
- 12–15+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or strategy roles.
- Proven track record in executing M&A transactions and strategic deals.
- Strong experience in financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring.
