Site Engineer Civil Engineer (Grenada)
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Civil Engineer to be located in Grenada, West Indies. As a site engineer, you will monitor diversified aspects of construction project management. This will include planning, coordination and supervision of on-site activities. You will ensure all aspects of the project align with engineering and design specifications, industry standards for this Roads and Infrastructure Company located in Grenada.
As a Site Engineer you will be responsible for the effective execution of project essentially by coordinating all site activities at every level of the project from the mobilization stage to commissioning and handing over.
Objectives of this role
- Supervising and managing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Reporting project updates, milestones and potential risks to the project manager and key stakeholders.
- Analysing and interpreting engineering drawings, survey reports and other technical documentation to guide the construction process.
- Planning and overseeing allocating resources, materials and equipment to optimise project efficiency.
- Monitoring project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities and adhering to budget constraints.
- Providing technical guidance and expertise to resolve construction-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage construction activities at the site, ensuring adherence to project specifications, codes and safety regulations.
- Acting as the main technical adviser on site for subcontractors, foremen and crafts people.
- Setting out, leveling and surveying the site.
- Ensuring all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues and ensure compliance with engineering and design requirements.
- Analyse and interpret engineering plans, aerial photography, blueprints, topographical & geologic data and technical drawings to plan and execute construction activities.
- Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design and specification.
- Liaising with any consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce team involved in the project.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and subcontractors to ensure timely project completion.
- Liaising with the local authority to ensure compliance with local construction regulations.
- Liaising with consultants and their representatives (engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.
- Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials.
- Coordinate the procurement and delivery of construction materials, ensuring their compliance with industry standards.
- Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of any subcontractors.
- Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
- Identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures to minimise project delays, cost overruns and safety hazards.
- Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters on site.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, site diaries, change orders and quality control measures.
- Preparing reports as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum (5) Years experience as a site engineer, civil engineer or an equivalent role (with a Roads and Infrastructure Company).
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Other relevant engineering certifications, like Project Management Professional (PMP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing and supervising construction projects.
- English language communication skills, both written and oral.
- A methodical approach, commendable analytical abilities and attention to details.
- Organizational and negotiation skills
- Excellent IT skills with solid experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, GIS and other software
- Capability of working in diverse situations

- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and regulations.
- Competent in assessing, interpreting and presenting survey reports and other critical data for stakeholders and shareholders.
