This resource will report into the Head of Banking in the Investment Banking division (COO) in the bank and be a manager-level within the BI center of Excellence.
This resource will support the reporting and analytics initiatives.
There are no direct people management responsibilities, however they need to be very comfortable with building relations cross-functionally and curating needed info.
One of the immediate initiatives is to re-platform Qlickview platform into Power BI
Stage 1: creating a data set to Power BI and leveraging the tool, may require helping others learn about the platform to guide them to pull and organize data.
Stage 2: build out dashboards and automated scorecard functions as well as business reviews.
Day 1 there is no ability to build ad hoc reports because the data is not there, so they need to go to work with other teams to organize this for data capture.
Summary & Background
Exciting opportunity for a skilled Power BI developer to work alongside the business to improve their reporting capabilities and skills. The client is the Banking Americas division of a Japanese investment bank. The candidate will be part of a small Power BI team supporting Banking Americas and will be responsible for the design and development of reports, dashboards and ad-hoc queries. The position calls for someone with business analyst expertise who is enthusiastic about working with business users in a fast-paced environment.
- We are on the hunt for a highly-skilled Power BI developer with strong business sensibilities to help accelerate the pace of business reporting transformation via Power BIDuring the initial 4-8 months the role would be heavily focused on ad hoc reporting ensuring that the right data exists in the data warehouse, creating the corresponding data sets in Power BI, developing ad hoc reports based on what the business needs, coaching people to develop their own ad hoc reports
Once the internal business team is proficient using the ad hoc tool, emphasis may shift to dashboards and paginated reports
- The successful candidate will be somebody who can work shoulder-to-shoulder with the business (COO team) and leverage Power BI to deliver the kinds of dashboards and ad hoc analytics and work products they need (e.g., using Power BI to package templated business summaries sourced from the data warehouse, CRM)
- In addition to being a strong and experienced developer who can help architect solutions and execute, the successful candidate will be a solutions and action-oriented person who is ready to step-up to accomplish whats needed in the most efficient way
- Role is hybrid arrangement, with 3-4 days a week required in the midtown Manhattan office
Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on Power BI experience, including dashboards, paginated reports and PRBS
- Minimum 3+ years of relational and multi-dimensional (OLAP) data modeling Proficiency in the use of SQL, including relational and dimensional database structures, query optimization, specifically with SQL Server
- Strong ability to analyze user requirements, make recommendations and implement solutions
- Minimum of 1 year working directly with business users to address their ad hoc reporting needs via Power BI
- Self-driven and should be able to troubleshoot and provide quick resolutions to issues.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute in a high-pressured environment
- University bachelor degree (Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering)
