Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineer

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Engineer to be located in Grenada, West Indies. The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for executing the specific inspections on materials, equipment and construction/installation activities on site.

The Objective of the role is:

  • To ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • To conduct regular inspections and audits to monitor production quality.
  • To identify and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • To collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvements.
  • To prepare and present QA/QC reports to senior management
  1. Quality Assurance:
    • Develop, implement, and manage the QA/QC procedures and standards to ensure the quality of materials and construction activities.
    • Carry out inspections and check for all quality- related procedures in the site and ensure activities at the site are as per approved method statement and inspection test plan.
    • Perform regular audits and inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with the quality standards and project specifications.
    • Review quality of all materials at relevant sites and ensure compliance to all project specifications and quality and collaborate with department for all material procurement and maintain quality of materials.
    • Establish and monitor quality benchmarks and KPIs for projects.
    • Manage all work methods and maintain knowledge on all quality assurance standards and monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
    • Regular site inspections for site ongoing works, raising internal observations & follow-ups with site team to get the same rectified.
    • Monitor for an efficient system and record all project activities and analyse all processes to ensure all work according to quality requirements.
  2. Quality Control:
    • Conduct material testing and review test results to ensure materials meet required specifications.
    • Oversee all quality control activities on-site, including monitoring of construction methods, workmanship, and compliance with design specifications.
    • Investigate and analyze non-conformities, implement corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.
    • Regular site inspections for site ongoing works, raising internal observations & follow-ups with site team to get the same rectified.
  1. Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed records of quality assurance and quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective action documentation.
    • Prepare and present reports on quality performance, highlighting key issues, improvements, and trends.
    • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and complies with company policies and project requirements.
  2. Coordination and Communication:
    • Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure quality standards are understood and adhered to.
    • Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities to address quality-related issues.
    • Provide training and guidance to construction teams on quality standards and best practices.
  3. Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure that all construction activities comply with construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
    • Responsible for creating awareness on quality at site & ensure implementation of all quality procedures.
    • Stay updated on changes in industry standards and regulatory requirements, and implement necessary adjustments to QA/QC processes.
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential quality risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Inspections of all incoming materials & implementation of QA/ QC requirements.
    • Proactively address quality issues before they impact project timelines and costs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in QA/QC roles within construction contractor companies, with specialised experience in mix designs and specific experience in asphalt and concrete roadworks.
  • Proficiency in QA/QC tools and techniques, knowledge of construction materials, methods, and testing standards.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software and QA/QC documentation tools.
  • Hands on experience in mix designs and awareness of all relevant national / international codes and standards.
  • Experience of field tests for concrete, soil etc. materials & documentation.
  • Experience in field quality assurance for road works projects.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Effective communication and interfacing with all functions to ensure effective and well-coordinated actions and timely decisions.
  • Effective communication in written and spoken English for all functional / project quality related matters.
