About the job Chief Impact Officer
The Chief Impact Officer is responsible for developing and leading the organization's social impact, sustainability, ESG, and purpose-driven initiatives. The role focuses on creating measurable positive outcomes for communities, stakeholders, customers, employees, and the environment while aligning impact objectives with the organization's long-term business strategy. The CIO drives programs that enhance corporate responsibility, sustainable growth, and stakeholder value.
Key Responsibilities
Impact Strategy & Vision
- Develop and execute the organization's impact strategy aligned with corporate mission and business objectives.
- Define measurable social, environmental, and economic impact goals.
- Integrate impact priorities into enterprise-wide strategic planning.
ESG & Sustainability Leadership
- Lead ESG, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of impact programs with sustainability frameworks and best practices.
- Drive initiatives focused on climate action, social inclusion, and responsible governance.
Social Impact & Community Engagement
- Develop programs that create meaningful impact within communities and stakeholder groups.
- Lead partnerships with nonprofits, NGOs, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Oversee philanthropic initiatives, volunteer programs, and social investment projects.
Impact Measurement & Reporting
- Establish frameworks to measure and evaluate social and environmental impact.
- Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting structures for impact performance.
- Communicate outcomes and progress to leadership, investors, and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Engage with investors, clients, regulators, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
- Build strategic partnerships that strengthen organizational impact and reputation.
- Represent the organization in sustainability and impact-focused forums.
Sustainable Business Integration
- Collaborate with business units to embed impact principles into products, services, and operations.
- Support responsible investment and sustainable business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to create shared value through innovation and strategic growth.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ESG, sustainability, and social responsibility standards and regulations.
- Establish governance frameworks to support accountability and transparency.
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, and risk management teams.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Promote a purpose-driven and socially responsible organizational culture.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives related to sustainability and social impact.
- Foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee well-being programs.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead and mentor sustainability, CSR, ESG, and impact teams.
- Build cross-functional collaboration around impact initiatives.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in impact strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Public Policy, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 12–15+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, social impact, CSR, or related leadership roles.
- Proven experience developing and implementing impact-focused initiatives and strategies.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
