Job Title: Chief Data Officer (CDO)

Role Summary

The Chief Data Officer is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise data strategy, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset to drive decision-making, innovation, and business growth. This role oversees data governance, data architecture, analytics, AI/ML initiatives, and regulatory compliance related to data.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute enterprise-wide data strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Establish data as a core asset for competitive advantage and innovation
  • Advise executive leadership on data-driven opportunities and risks

2. Data Governance & Quality

  • Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, lineage, and ownership across the organization
  • Implement master data management (MDM) practices

3. Data Architecture & Platforms

  • Oversee design and implementation of modern data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse)
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and accessibility of data systems
  • Drive integration across enterprise systems

4. Analytics, BI & AI/ML

  • Lead advanced analytics, business intelligence, and AI/ML initiatives
  • Enable self-service analytics and data democratization
  • Deliver insights that drive business performance and innovation

5. Data Privacy, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry standards
  • Partner with security teams to safeguard sensitive data
  • Manage data risk, ethics, and responsible AI practices

6. Data Monetization & Value Creation

  • Identify opportunities to monetize data and create new revenue streams
  • Optimize data usage across business units
  • Measure and track ROI of data initiatives

7. Culture, Talent & Enablement

  • Build and lead high-performing data and analytics teams
  • Promote a data-driven culture across the organization
  • Upskill business users on data literacy and tools

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 15–20+ years of experience in data, analytics, or technology leadership roles
  • Proven track record of building and scaling enterprise data platforms
  • Strong expertise in data governance, analytics, AI/ML, and data architecture
  • Experience working with cross-functional executive teams
