Position Overview:

The Chief Insurance Officer is responsible for leading the organization's insurance business, including product development, underwriting, distribution, and claims management. The role focuses on driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence while ensuring strong risk management and regulatory compliance. The CInsO will play a key role in expanding the insurance portfolio and enhancing customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Insurance Strategy & Business Growth

Develop and execute the overall insurance strategy aligned with organizational objectives.

Drive growth in premiums, market share, and profitability across insurance segments (life, general, health, etc.).

Identify new product opportunities, markets, and distribution channels.

2. Product Development & Underwriting

Oversee design and development of insurance products tailored to customer needs.

Establish underwriting standards, pricing models, and risk assessment frameworks.

Ensure competitiveness and profitability of insurance offerings.

3. Distribution & Sales Management

Lead distribution channels including agency, bancassurance, brokers, and digital platforms.

Develop partnerships with banks, financial institutions, and intermediaries.

Drive sales performance and customer acquisition initiatives.

4. Claims Management & Customer Experience

Oversee claims processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Implement customer-centric policies to enhance service quality.

Monitor claims ratios and identify areas for improvement.

5. Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and internal policies.

Monitor underwriting, operational, and market risks.

Coordinate with regulators, auditors, and compliance teams.

6. Financial & Performance Management

Manage insurance portfolio profitability, loss ratios, and expense ratios.

Develop KPIs and reporting frameworks for business performance.

Provide regular insights and reports to executive leadership.

7. Technology & Digital Transformation

Drive digital initiatives in underwriting, claims processing, and customer engagement.

Leverage data analytics and insurtech solutions to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Enhance digital distribution and customer experience platforms.

8. Leadership & Team Development

Lead and mentor teams across underwriting, claims, sales, and operations.

Build a high-performance, customer-focused culture.

Ensure continuous professional development and training.

9. Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with partners, reinsurers, brokers, and key stakeholders.

Represent the organization in industry forums and regulatory discussions.

Strengthen brand presence in the insurance market.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Insurance, or related field; MBA or professional insurance qualifications preferred.

12–15+ years of experience in insurance, with significant leadership experience.

Strong knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, claims, and regulatory frameworks.

Proven track record in driving growth and profitability in insurance business.
