Job Title: Accounting Officer Insurance Accounting

Location: Kingston, Jamaica (In-Person)
Core Functions:
- Provide accounting support to the Insurance Accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions related to insurance operations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for insurance entities in accordance with IFRS and internal reporting standards.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations for insurance-related balances including premiums, commissions, claims, and reinsurance.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process through data collection and variance analysis.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, brokers, reinsurers) to facilitate financial and operational reporting requirements.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls within the insurance accounting function.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Pursuing ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) - three (3) years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
Specialized Skills, Techniques/Learned Disciplines:
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing financial data.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights.
