Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop control philosophy, I/O list, and cause-&-effect.
  2. Produce/review panel GA, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and termination drawings (AutoCAD/EPLAN).
  3. Select hardware (PLC/RTU, I/O modules, HMI, PSU, relays, signal isolators, surge protection, UPS, fans/filters).
  4. Program PLCs (LD/FBD/ST), and implement interlocks, sequences, and alarms.
  5. Integrate field devices and drives (analog 4–20 mA, DI/DO, pulse, VFDs, soft starters).
  6. Implement/diagnose protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3 (and/or EtherNet/IP as needed).
  7. Prepare FAT procedures; run I/O simulation, fail-safe tests, and documentation for client acceptance.
  8. Plan SAT/loop checks, punch-list closure, and cutover/rollback plans in live plants.
  9. Troubleshoot instrumentation signals, network drops, and control sequences; optimise scan/alarms.
  10. Maintain as-built drawings, manuals, spares lists, and training materials; deliver clean handover packs.
  11. Track schedule, materials, and costs; coordinate with procurement, vendors, and civil/MEP teams; report progress to the PM.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control & Instrumentation.
  • 2–5 years' experience in PLC/HMI and panel projects (water/utilities or process automation preferred).
  • Hands-on with at least one major PLC/HMI stack (e.g., Schneider M580/SCADAPack + EcoStruxure/Control Expert; or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 + PanelView/FactoryTalk).
  • Able to read P&IDs, single-line and wiring schematics; confident with loop testing and panel QA.
  • Working knowledge of Modbus/DNP3, analog signal calibration, and basic networking (VLAN/IP addressing).
  • Strong documentation discipline, coordination skills, and client-facing communication.
