Location: Southern England (Primarily London Airports)
Salary: £50,000.00 - £55,000.00

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across southern England. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can manage their own diary, schedule client appointments directly, and travel to various customer sites as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be adaptable to changing schedules, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

In addition to UK-based responsibilities, this role offers the opportunity to travel internationally, with potential assignments in Europe and the Middle East, supporting workshops and collaborating with teams in these regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain battery-powered and electric vehicles, including airport ground support and industrial equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimise downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Manage your own schedule efficiently, booking appointments directly with customers.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on proper equipment usage and maintenance best practices.
  • Document service activities, including repairs, parts used, and recommendations for ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to report recurring issues and provide feedback for product improvement.
  • Travel across various sites in the south of the UK, primarily London airports, to support service operations.
  • Be flexible with working hours, as start and finish times may vary depending on client needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Technician, or similar role in the GSE, automotive, or industrial machinery sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience working with battery-powered or electric vehicles is essential.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel extensively across the south of the UK.
