About the Role:
The Global Systems Administrator is responsible for both operational and project-related activities, ensuring IT standards are maintained across all global locations. This role covers global data centers, remote site data rooms, cloud solutions, servers, storage, backup operations, and disaster recovery solutions. The position requires strong communication, problem-solving, change management, and systems administration skills to support high-quality operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to defined Global IT Service Management processes, including change management, incident management, problem management, service level management, knowledge management, and request fulfilment.
- Collaborate with IT staff, service providers, and end-users to support and maintain a complex and expanding core infrastructure.
- Provide Level 2 and 3 support for global core infrastructure issues, ensuring resolution aligns with service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs).
- Participate in an on-call support rotation, responding to and troubleshooting incidents outside business hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ensure uptime, resiliency, and performance of all core infrastructure, particularly ERP systems such as Oracle JD Edwards.
- Manage, optimize, and plan capacity for ERP infrastructure, including storage environments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for procedures, policies, and standard processes related to core infrastructure.
- Work closely with project teams, providing technical expertise, assisting in task planning, and ensuring seamless execution.
- Stay informed on industry standards and emerging technologies, making recommendations for technology improvements.
- Implement, administer, and monitor security solutions in alignment with the companys Information Security Framework, including investigating potential security breaches.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Global Core Infrastructure.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in managing and maintaining data center systems, architectures, and processes in large enterprises, ideally supporting ERP systems.
- Strong leadership capabilities with an understanding of business processes and operational needs.
- Experience in the industrial manufacturing sector is a plus.
- Ability to assess data centre trends and implement hardware/software standards.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to contribute to departmental meetings and influence positive outcomes.
- Solid understanding of licensing models and compliance, with Oracle license experience being an advantage.
- Strong adherence to best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel globally to supported locations (up to 25%).
Technical Skills & Experience
- Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (5.x, 6.x, 7.x)
- Oracle JD Edwards, WebLogic, WebCenter, and database experience (preferred)
- VMWare (ESX 6.x) in a large multi-site enterprise environment supporting Oracle ERP/DB
- Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019
- NFS/NAS/Distributed File Shares
- Virtual machine and Oracle DB backup methods (CommVault knowledge is a plus)
- Microsoft Active Directory Management
- Enterprise Anti-Virus Solutions
- HP Server Management (Proliant/C7000/Synergy/OneView)
- Enterprise System Monitoring
- Experience with ticketing systems and change management processes
