Salary Range: $56,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections of manufactured parts using various metrology equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain measurement tools and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of measurements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to measurement equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure product quality and resolve measurement-related problems.
  • Develop and implement new measurement techniques and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Train junior technicians on proper use and maintenance of metrology equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Metrology Technician or in a similar precision measurement role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating and programming various metrology equipment, including CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, and height gages.
  • Experience with metrology software for data collection, analysis, and reporting (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, Minitab).
  • Strong understanding of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and quality control standards (e.g., ISO 9001).

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS)
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles and application
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) software (e.g., MiniTab, JMP)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair metrology equipment
