Salary Range: $56,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Hudsonville that are seeking skilled Lead Machinists. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily machining operations and production schedules.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate junior machinists on technical skills and safety.
• Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machinery for complex parts.
• Conduct quality inspections and troubleshoot machining defects to ensure precision.
• Maintain and repair machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize part design for manufacturability and efficiency.
• Manage raw material inventory and order supplies as needed for production.

Recommended Qualifications

• Apprenticeship completion or equivalent experience (5-7 years) in precision machining.
• Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (lathes, mills, grinders) and manual machining equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, tooling, and their respective machining properties.
• Proven leadership experience, including mentoring junior machinists and overseeing project workflows.
• Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and implementing continuous improvement practices.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation
• Certification in a specialized machining technique (e.g., CNC programming, EDM, or advanced welding)
• Proven ability to mentor junior machinists and contribute to skill development programs
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with metrology equipment and inspection processes for quality control
