Salary Range: $43,000 - $66,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in East Lansing that are seeking Incoming Inspection Technicians. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Utilize various inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs, to verify conformance.
  • Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly, including acceptance, rejection, and non-conformance details, in designated quality management systems.
  • Initiate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials, ensuring proper containment, identification, and communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and supplier quality teams to resolve material discrepancies and improve supplier quality performance.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment according to established schedules and procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality control plans.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience in quality control, inspection, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications (GD&T preferred).
  • Experience using a variety of precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges).
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with automated inspection equipment (e.g., CMM, vision systems).
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) charting and analysis.
  • IPC-A-610 certification.
