Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Allendale, MI

Salary Range: $63,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as LOTO, HazCom, and emergency response.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal programs and maintain accurate waste manifests.
  • Monitor and report on key EHS performance indicators and metrics.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to integrate EHS considerations into new projects and equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct EHS training, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Experience with EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with all levels of the organization.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to EHS
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish
  • Familiarity with industrial hygiene principles and monitoring techniques
