Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Kalamazoo, MI
Salary Range: $63,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Kalamazoo that are seeking skilled Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Investigate all EHS incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures.
- Deliver EHS training programs to employees on various topics, including hazard communication, LOTO, and emergency preparedness.
- Manage hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal.
- Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation, including permits, training logs, and incident reports.
- Support the EHS Manager in developing and implementing site-specific EHS goals and objectives.
- Participate in EHS committee meetings, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
- 3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, develop safety programs, and lead incident investigations.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for EHS metrics and trend analysis
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
- Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling techniques
- Knowledge of sustainability principles and practices in a manufacturing context
