Salary Range: $75,000 - $114,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain welding procedures and specifications to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Oversee welding operations, troubleshooting issues and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Select appropriate welding processes, equipment, and materials for various manufacturing applications.
• Conduct root cause analysis of welding defects and implement corrective actions.
• Train and mentor welding personnel on best practices, safety procedures, and new technologies.
• Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize weldments for manufacturability and performance.
• Monitor welding costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Stay abreast of new welding technologies and advancements, recommending their adoption where beneficial.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient understanding of various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW) and their application in different materials.
• Experience with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) and their implementation.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material science, and failure analysis related to welding.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with advanced welding processes such as electron beam welding or friction stir welding.
• - Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of results.
• - Knowledge of materials science, particularly related to metallurgy and metal fatigue.
• - Certification in a relevant welding inspection body (e.g., CWI, CSWIP).
• - Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
