Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize welding processes to ensure product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement welding procedures (WPS) and qualifications (PQR) according to industry standards.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and techniques for specific manufacturing applications.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and testing of welded components and assemblies.
  • Train and mentor welding personnel on best practices, safety procedures, and new technologies.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and weldability of new products.
  • Stay current with advancements in welding technology, materials, and relevant industry regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures (WPS, PQR) according to industry codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW) and their applications in manufacturing.
  • Expertise in welding metallurgy, material science, and heat treatment processes.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of results (e.g., RT, UT, PT, MT).
  • Familiarity with welding automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with advanced NDT methods (e.g., phased array UT, digital radiography)
  • - Familiarity with welding automation and robotics
  • - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to welding processes
  • - Certification in a specific welding process (e.g., Certified Welding Supervisor, Certified Welding Inspector)
  • - Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for weldment design and performance prediction
