Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Specify, procure, and commission new laser welding equipment and tooling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve laser welding process and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Establish and maintain weld quality standards, inspection methods, and process controls.
• Collaborate with design and and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including work instructions and specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with industrial laser welding processes (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing, optimizing, and validating laser welding parameters for various materials and joint configurations.
• Strong ability to analyze weld defects, troubleshoot process issues, and implement robust corrective actions to ensure consistent weld quality.
• Familiarity with laser safety standards, jig/fixture design for weld applications, and integration into automated production lines.
• In-depth knowledge of materials science, metallurgy, and their impact on the laser weldability of diverse metal alloys.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with robotic programming for laser welding systems (e.g., Fanuc, ABB).
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design or weld joint optimization.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with advanced metallographic analysis techniques (e.g., SEM, EDS).
