Salary Range: $59,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Manistee seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Perform complex machining operations using manual and CNC equipment (milling, turning, grinding, EDM).
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and engineering specifications to determine tooling requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing production tooling and machinery.
  • Conduct precise measurements and quality inspections of manufactured tools and components.
  • Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatment processes for optimal tool performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent formal training.
  • Proven proficiency in operating conventional and CNC machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Demonstrated skill in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM).
  • Strong understanding of various materials, their properties, and machining characteristics.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for design and programming (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Proficiency in advanced CNC programming and operation.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques for tool repair and modification.
  • Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
