Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement tooling and fixtures for laser welding applications.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of welded components.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and training materials.
• Evaluate and recommend new laser welding technologies and equipment.
• Support production by troubleshooting laser welding equipment and process issues.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in laser welding parameters, material science, and metallurgy for various alloys.
• Strong understanding of laser safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
• Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for weld defects.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with vision systems for weld inspection and guidance.
• Familiarity with robotic programming for laser welding applications (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC).
• Knowledge of metallurgy and material science related to laser welding of various alloys.
• Project management experience, particularly in leading equipment installations or process improvements.
• Understanding of NDT methods (e.g., X-ray, UT) for weld quality assessment.
