Incoming Inspection Technician | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $42,000 - $65,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Lansing that are seeking Incoming Inspection Technicians. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Document inspection results accurately in the quality management system, including non-conformances and disposition recommendations.
  • Utilize various precision measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Initiate and process Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) for rejected materials, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams for resolution.
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment and tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve incoming material quality.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized inspection area.

Recommended Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing quality control or inspection role
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience with various measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
  • Familiarity with various measurement tools beyond basic calipers/micrometers (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
  • Certification in relevant quality standards (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
  • Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
